National Ribbon Skirt Day

January 4th marks National Ribbon Skirt Day in Canada, celebrating the cultural significance of ribbon skirts and honouring Indigenous women. The day began after Isabella Kulak, a young Indigenous girl, was shamed for wearing her ribbon skirt to school, sparking a nationwide movement of support. In 2022, it was officially recognized by the Canadian government.

Board Holiday!

Wishing our students, families, staff, and community a safe and relaxing holiday season.

Please note that all DSB1 schools and offices will be closed starting Monday, December 22, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026. We look forward to welcoming all students and staff back on Monday, January 5, 2026.

You’re Not Alone This Holiday Season

The holiday season can bring joy, but it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, or stressful and that’s completely okay. You don’t have to face everything alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of courage and self-care, not weakness. Whether you’re navigating family challenges, mental health concerns, or simply need someone to talk to, support is always available.
