Elementary Curriculum

District School Board Ontario North East believes students should be able to use what they learn in real-life situations. That’s why there is a strong focus on giving students learning opportunities that connect knowledge and skills. The Curriculum Department helps schools choose resources, teaching methods, assessment tools, staff training, and leadership programs. 

The Ministry of Education has created curriculum expectations for each subject in Grades 1 to 8, plus a play-based kindergarten program. These documents outline what students are expected to know and do at each grade level. Students must show their learning in every subject.
