INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION) TRUSTEE

The successful applicant will serve on the board of Trustees of District School Board Ontario North East and represent the interests of Indigenous students. The term of office is from November 15, 2022, until November 14, 2026. The Indigenous Trustee is deemed an elected member of the board and is required to attend regular board meetings, generally held on the first and third Tuesday of every month from September until June, and committee meetings as applicable.

The Indigenous Trustee will chair the Indigenous Peoples’ Advisory Committee, which provides advice and recommendations to the Board for all initiatives including, but not limited to Indigenous studies, Indigenous language, student retention, alternative education programs and cross-cultural education.

The selection process for this position will take place at an Indigenous Peoples’ Advisory Committee meeting in October 2022 at the Board office in Schumacher.
